Can a beautifully illustrated children's book make a difference for real wolves? We believe it can.
Welcome
This is our wolf friendly version of Little Red Riding Hood. I wrote it (S. Todd Strader). The incredible Anne Yvonne Gilbert is illustrating it. And super cool Danny Nanos is doing the design work. We believe in the power of story and art to move hearts. Together we can save critically endangered American Red Wolves from extinction.
About The Project
A Story…
He's out to save his grandmother. She's out to save her father. Far from the typical wolf bad, girl good telling of this old folktale, this story weaves themes of family loyalty, bravery and, ultimately, mercy into a dramatic narrative with a happy ending.
And
A Cause…
The red wolf is a beautiful, uniquely American species of wolf. This truly family-oriented member of the animal kingdom is at the heart of our story and at the heart of the current debate about the place of animals in a human dominated world. As the most endangered of all wild mammals (currently less than 10 individuals in the wild) the American Red Wolf is the poster child for not only endangered species but for respectful human animal cohabitation.

Fundraising
It has been a year since we held our benefit art exhibition and two years since we began raising money to independently publish this book. Unfortunately, we have not had much success in this endeavor. We are no longer raising funds to make the book ourselves. Our hope now is to find a publisher who agrees this is a beautiful and important work.
